Empowering Landlords with Seamless Online Insurance
Problem Statement
Rentsurance sold landlord insurance through a patchwork of systems: one for quotes, another for payments, a third for policy documents. Landlords had to call or email to complete purchases, and the operations team spent hours manually reconciling data across platforms.
The company needed a single system where landlords could get a quote, pay, and manage their policy without picking up the phone.
Solution
Dwello is a self-service portal that takes landlords from initial quote to active policy in a single session. They answer a series of questions about their property, receive a price, pay by card, and download their documents immediately.
Behind the scenes, the platform handles payment processing through Stripe, generates policy documentation automatically, and gives the Rentsurance team a dashboard to manage customers without the manual data entry.
Process
We started by mapping the existing customer journey, identifying where landlords dropped off or needed support. The quoting process alone required too many fields, and users frequently abandoned forms mid-way.
From there, we designed a simplified quote flow that asks only what's necessary upfront, deferring secondary questions until after the user has seen a price. We built a component library to keep the interface consistent as features expanded, and prototyped the full journey in Figma before writing any code.
Development ran in parallel with design. We integrated Stripe early to validate the payment flow, then built out the policy management features in phases.
Results
Dwello replaced a manual, phone-dependent process with one that runs largely unattended. Landlords can now purchase cover outside office hours, and the operations team no longer spends time on data entry that the system handles automatically.
Conclusion
Our biggest gains came from reducing the existing friction from the quote form. Asking fewer questions upfront and deferring the rest; made a measurable difference to completion rates.
Integrating Stripe early also paid off as payment is where many e-commerce projects stumble at launch. By testing it throughout development, we avoided any last-minute surprises.
